Welcome to the stable

I've been racing RC cars for twenty years now, and have never
shaken off the fascination with trucks. They come in a miriad of shapes and
sizes, which I think can be broadly grouped:-
- Stadium racers:- Designed purely for speed and handling, though very often they're
exceptionally tough too. They typically resemble overgrown off-road buggies,
featuring independent double wishbone suspension and large tyres and a truck shell. Examples
include the Losi XXT, Associated RC10T and Traxxas Stampede.
- Car crushers:- These most resemble the outrageous monster trucks made famous
by Bigfoot (arguably the most famous monster truck in the world). The emphasis
is on size, power and attitude. Comon examples of this variety are the
Tamiya Cloduster (in stock form), and the Kyosho Twin Force.
- Crawlers:- Designed specifically for rock crawling, with a flexible chassis,
heaps of suspension travel and very low gearing. Examples tend to be custom
built or conversions of commercially available trucks, with the Clod Buster being
one of the common donor trucks.
I've had racers and crushers for years, and have just started exploring
the crawler aspects now that the specialized parts are becoming easier to acquire. The
UK's not very interested in trucks, there are no specialist manufacturers or stockists
as far as I'm aware, unless you're running a t-maxx or e-maxx. But nowadays,
with the advent of the internet, parts are readily available from vendors around
the world.
My current set of trucks:-
- Tamiya Clod Buster
- Tamiya TXT-1
- Tamiya TLT-1
- Tamiya Wild Dagger
- Tamiya Wild Willy II
- HPI RS4 MT
- Losi XXT-CR
- Kyosho mini-z monster
